Britain orders EVACUATION as Sudan crisis boils over

Sudan military'attacks hospital expels wounded protesters

The African Union said on Thursday it had suspended Sudan until a civilian government was formed, intensifying worldwide pressure on the country's new military rulers to give up power.

The African Union (AU) on Thursday suspended Sudan until the establishment of civilian rule, intensifying global pressure on its new military leaders to stand down after the worst violence since Omar al-Bashir's fall in April.

Protest leaders have rejected an offer of talks from the Transitional Military Council (TMC), saying it can not be trusted after the bloodshed.

"The number of deaths has climbed to 108 as more bodies were found in the Nile River and three children from one family were killed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)", the committee said in a statement.

The military promised a transition to civilian rule but protesters had maintained a sit-in in Khartoum until security forces swept in on Monday and opened fire.

Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone and Chairperson of the African Union Peace and Security Council Patrick Kapuwa (L) speaks during a press briefing regarding the situation of Sudan at the African Union, in Addis Ababa, on June 6, 2019.

Bashir, who is being sought by worldwide prosecutors for alleged war crimes in the country's western Darfur region, had earlier refused to step down and said his opponents should seek power through the ballot box.

Quoting eyewitnesses, CNN had earlier reported that the police and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces fired shots at the protesters, while many law enforcement personnel beat the demonstrators who took to the streets.

The Transitional Military Council canceled all agreements it had reached with the opposition immediately after the raid but on Wednesday it rowed back amid mounting worldwide criticism of the violence.

The council said it would impose "punitive sanctions" if Sudan's ruling military council does not hand over power to civilians, and called for "the immediate resumption of negotiations, without pre-conditions, between all Sudanese stakeholders".

"The United States remains firmly committed to working with the people of Sudan along with our worldwide partners, in pursuit of a peaceful solution in Sudan", she said.

The insider added that they are "not in a great place". "( Shallow ) is a love song, A Star Is Born is a love story", Gaga said. Hollywood actor-director Bradley Cooper and Russian supermodel girlfriend Irina Shayk have split up, according to a report .

On Monday, the Doctors Committee put the death toll from the crackdown at 40.

The head of the military council, General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, had said that the generals were ready to resume negotiations and that there would be "no restrictions" in talks with the leaders behind the months-long street protests.

By Tuesday, Khartoum's streets were quieter.

The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA), which spearheaded protests against Bashir, urged the global community "to isolate and stop dealing with the so-called military council".

"We don't know where they are being held", he added.

"The RSF, the special military force which killed, raped and tortured thousands in Darfur, brings its murderous rampage to the capital", Amnesty said.

"We will continue in our protests, resistance, strike and total civil disobedience", he said.

The military and protest leaders had spent weeks negotiating the makeup of a transitional council meant to run the country until elections. "It's an order from the military council to shut down those hospitals because we were giving aid for the citizens".

The reasons for his about-face were not immediately clear. Political analyst Joseph Ochieno told Al Jazeera before the suspension announcement that the emergency meeting was "coming rather late".

The military council says Monday's raid was targeting criminals in an area adjacent to the camp and got out of hand.
