Defending champions Australia open World Cup campaign with victory over Afghanistan

Brendon Mc Cullum predicted Pakistan's loss to the West Indies

Australia's Steve Smith, left, and Australia's David Warner chat after their first batting over together during the Cricket World Cup match between Afghanistan and Australia.

Afghanistan have struggled to 98-5 halfway through its allotted overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first in the Cricket World Cup group match against five-time champion Australia.

David Warner reclaimed an opening spot alongside Aaron Finch for the Aussies' tournament-opening win against Afghanistan and the pair duly delivered, making 89 not out and 66 respectively in a 96-run partnership.

Zampa said he did not think Warner and Smith would necessarily feed off the negative vibes from the crowd, but instead were shutting them out, praising them for the way they were handling themselves.

However, whenever they had to retrieve the ball from the boundary rope, the boos came thick and fast.

In bringing his half century from a patient 74 balls, Warner displayed precious little of the explosive qualities we've come to know him for.

"We are a good side, we have good spinners and a lot of matches remaining".

"Personally, I don't really hear the crowd to be honest", he said.

Rashid Khan's first over then went for 14, including a massive six from a half- tacker over mid wicket from Finch. "Credit goes to them".

Cruise ship collides with Venice tourist boat, injuring four people
Local media said the four injured were female tourists from the United States, Australia and New Zealand aged between 67 and 72. A cruise ship crash in Venice has reignited calls for large vessels to be banned from the city's Giudecca canal.

And while Mitchell Starc is Australia's best exponent of fast, swing bowling - there's no more risky quick on the planet when he's landing his inswinging yorker - this could well become Pat Cummins' World Cup because of the pace and bounce on display so far. But once Zampa got Shahidi out, wickets tumbled at regular intervals.

"There were a huge numbers of Afghans in the crowd that give us great energy out in the middle plus numerous neutrals seemed to be behind us too".

"You've got to give it to the Windies, otherwise they just get on the front foot".

"I think with the aggressive mindset with the bat, if they can get anywhere around the 250, 260, 270, with their bowling attack later down the track in the World Cup they will cause upsets".

When they met Australia at the 2015 World Cup in Perth, a 275-run defeat ensued as David Warner hit 178 in a total of 417 for six. I don't think he's penned-in for the tournament by any means.

Naib did note that his team won something in Bristol _ the support of the crowd.

Stoinis managed to pick up a couple of crucial wickets in the middle, including that of Afghanistan top-scorer Najibullah Zadran (51) who put on a risky 83-run partnership for the sixth wicket with skipper Gulbadin Naib (31).

"We are just focusing on tomorrow".
