Robert Pattison Is Officially the New 'Batman'

It's Official! Robert Pattinson is The Batman

Ben Affleck's official departure left a Batman-sized hole in the DC cinematic universe and recent news that ex-Twilight star Robert Pattinson was donning the cowl in Affleck's wake caused quite a lot of buzz on the internet.

In his casting, Pattinson officially beat out other hollywood favorites, including Nicholas Hoult and Armie Hammer, for the part. Academy Award victor Christian Bale was 31 when he started saving Gotham City and many would argue that his performance was the best Batman of all-time.

As for what we can expect from Pattinson as Batman, it will more than likely be a very different Batman from what we've previously seen on the big screen. It has been confirmed by the Warner Brothers who declared on Friday about the deal that they have signed with Robert regarding the same.

Pattinson is known for his work on Good Time, The Lost City of Z and the Twilight films. The actor will also be seen in the upcoming movie Tenet which has been produced by Christopher Nolan. Films The King, The Devil All The Time and Waiting For The Barbarians are in post-production.

Variety broke the news earlier this month that Pattinson was the studio's top contender, and that report also mentioned that pre-production is expected to begin this summer. He toplines The Lighthouse, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and appeared in Claire Denis' High Life, The King for Netflix and Waiting for the Barbarians.

Affleck faced similar backlash for his casting, though fans eventually grew to like him in the role after Batman V Superman came out.

"Don't make the Batfleck mistake again", one petition implored.

Pattinson has not made a public comment, as he does not have social media accounts.
