North Korea fires 2 suspected missiles in possible new warning

North Korea fires 'unidentified projectile'

The latest tests coincided with a visit to the South Korean capital by USA special envoy for North Korea Stephen Biegun.

"While this recent launch of short-range missiles does not violate Pyongyang's promise to halt longer-range tests, North Korea has now made it clear it will not halt developing other parts of its military capabilities that threaten the region", he said.

This week's missile launches were expected to top the agenda when Biegun met with South Korean officials on Friday.

Retired three-star general Shin Won-shik warned that the Russian-type short-range missile could be capable of evading missile defense systems.

Trump said he might eventually lose faith in his friendly relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which he has previously described as "very strong".

Pyongyang said criticism from South Korea about that launch was a "cock-and-bull story" and claimed it was a regular defensive exercise.

"Nobody's happy about it", he told reporters, in reaction to the launches. It didn't stop them from getting the path to the weapon.

The launch, from an east coast area, was its first test of a ballistic missile since launching an intercontinental ballistic missile in November 2017.

South Korea responded to Saturday's action by the North by calling for an end to acts that escalate military tension.

Samsung Electronics says no anticipated shipping date yet for Galaxy Fold
More interesting than that bit of non-news sent out by Samsung is that the company is allowing people to cancel their pre-orders. The email was necessary under United States regulations that require customers be contacted if their pre-order is in any doubt.

The launch came just days after North Korea carried out a military drill and fired multiple projectiles, with at least one believed to be a short-range missile. The Rodong Sinmun photos showed the North used a tracked launch vehicle on Thursday, unlike Saturday when it used a wheeled vehicle.

The two missiles fired on Thursday went east from the northwestern area of Kusong, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The signatories "strongly deplore the grave and undiminished threat to regional and worldwide peace and security posed by the ongoing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles programs that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has developed", the text said. "Regarding the issue, we have a common understanding with the United States", the Foreign Ministry's deputy spokesperson Kim Deuk-hwan said during a press briefing Thursday.

In the end, the new missiles add a new level of unpredictability to an already tense situation, Hanham said. CNN, however, reported that one was sacked from Sino-ri, which is also located in the northwestern portion of the country. And, you know, at some point I may.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed that the worldwide community should maintain pressure on North Korea until it gives up its nuclear weapons program completely.

The tests also likely held a message for domestic audiences created to boost support for Kim's government, he said.

Linda Frost, Deputy, Media Operations of the Air Force Global Strike Command, told Fox News that the close timing of the United States and North Korean tests were not related.

"The Kim regime is determined to fight pressure with pressure", said Leif-Eric Easley, a professor at Ewha University in Seoul.
