Tencent Replaces PUBG by 'Game for Peace' in China

Tencent Suspends Blockbuster Video Game 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' in China

The battle royale-style shooter earned its publishers $920 million past year, but returns haven't been good for Tencent, which licensed a mobile version of the game for China in November 2017. The game is described as sort of a PUBG-clone, and Tencent is already offering existing PUBG players a way to migrate their accounts. By the afternoon, the message had changed to say PUBG wasn't coming back.

With so many players logging in to play the game each day, Tencent needed an alternative and that comes in the form of Game for Peace.

Tencent has been trying for over a year to get the necessary approvals in order for the company to start monetising PUBG through in-game purchases. In its place, however, Tencent has released a new game and this one has a much loftier title: Game for Peace. It also said it had launched an anti-terrorism-themed "Game for Peace", for which it gained monetization approval in April. Other than the lack of blood and gore, Game for Peace looks and plays nearly exactly like PUBG Mobile, according to its players.

SAPP only began approving new games in January and last month issued new guidelines for games that blacklisted certain content. Games are no longer allowed to show corpses, for example, or pools of blood.

4-year-old who recently had brain surgery allegedly kidnapped in Texas
Police said they were able to look at the license plate of the vehicle that Vence was driving, which belonged to Maleah's mother. The National Center for Missing Exploited Children described Maleah as African-American with black hair, and brown eyes.

Tencent didn't immediately respond to Caixin's questions regarding any possible resumption of "Battlegrounds" and the newer game's commercial potential.

Tencent has reportedly pulled the plug on popular video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in China and shifted users to a more government-friendly game.

When it comes to games, regulators aren't playing around.

Industry insiders had estimated the Chinese Internet giant could rake in one billion USA dollars in revenue after getting the green light to cash in on the game.
