Ciara Celebrates Russell Wilson’s $140 Million Deal

Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson Back to the future. Corky Trewin Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson says he and the team have "got a deal" to keep him in Seattle, and multiple reports say it's a record-breaker.

"Half of last year's 12 playoff teams got there by having a first-contract quarterback at the top of their depth chart".

After signing his big deal, Wilson and his wife Ciara took to Twitter where they looked pretty happy and cuddled up.

Wilson's annual average of $35 million per season eclipses Aaron Rodgers' extension signed past year. According to ESPN, $65 million of that is already guaranteed as a signing bonus.

This deal came literally at the last minute.

"She was involved, and her support really allowed the guys to function at the level where they were able to get this done", Carroll said.

Police confirmed that there is video of the incident but said it will not be released until the investigation is complete. Police said Aranda tried to get away after the incident but was found later inside of the mall's transit station.

ESPN and the Seattle PI reported the terms of the deal. To buy themselves some time, the Eagles can exercise a fifth-year team option on Wentz for 2020, which is expected to cost somewhere in the range of $25 million. "You're always the first person in, and the last person out".

The extension allows Seattle to budget for the future and build a contender around the former third-round pick. Pass rush standout Frank Clark is set to play on the franchise tag.

Russell can sleep easy knowing that he's getting paid. He has started all 112 games he has played for the Seahawks.

Wilson is coming off a great year in which he threw 35 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. Still, top-5 and even top-10 National Football League quarterbacks don't grow on trees so 12th Men and Women everywhere should wake up feeling refreshed and happy.

He's also been extremely durable, never missing a game while playing through significant knee, ankle and shoulder injuries. With that around the corner, Wilson and his agent, Mark Rodgers, set an April 15 deadline for a new deal.

As you all know, I said it would be insanely stupid if the Seahawks didn't lock up Wilson for a long time. This helps solidify that. The Seahawks have designed an entire offense around his mobility, which went from producing yardage of his own to more of an effect that freezes a pass rush, extends routes for the receivers and gives defenders something else to think about when trying to handle a three-headed rushing attack.
