500,000 People Impacted As Extinction Rebellion Activists Close Roads Across London

BRITAIN-CLIMATE-ENVIRONMENT-WARMING-FASHION-DEMO

The protesters have blocked Waterloo Bridge, one of the main passages across River Thames as well as Marble Arch and Oxford Circus areas in central London.

Police confirmed that a total of 113 arrests had been made at the Extinction Rebellion protest, the majority of which were for breach of the public order act or obstruction of the road.

On Monday police confirmed that 122 protesters had been arrested over the previous 24 hours, mostly on suspicion of blocking roads, but five of the arrests were for allegedly causing criminal damage to the London office of energy firm Shell.

Extinction Rebellion are demanding the government declare an immediate climate emergency and commit to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2025.

"Officers are out on the ground engaging with protestors and local communities to ensure proportionate policing plans are in place", police said in a statement.

"During this time, the other three arrested earlier in the day have since been taken to police stations and released without charge, and have returned to find their two fellows still unarrested".

Extinction Rebellion have organised a nationwide week of action, they are calling for a full-scale Rebellion to demand decisive action from governments on climate change and ecological collapse.

Favreau gives 'Star Wars' fans 1st look at 'The Mandalorian'
On Sunday at Star Wars Celebration in a snowy (seriously) Chicago, we finally got our first substantial look at The Mandalorian . Weathers has revealed that his character hires Pascal's mercenary gunslinger to acquire a precious object for him.

Reuben James, a 21-year-old Engineering student at Cardiff University, said he usually "wouldn't be against" getting arrested, but he had an exam in two weeks.

At Oxford Circus, protesters unveiled a pink boat that says "TELL THE TRUTH" and on Waterloo Bridge demonstrators brought trees, hanging baskets and skate ramps.

The disruption follows similar action last November when thousands of protesters occupied five central London bridges.

"In Europe, out of Europe, it makes no difference if we have no liveable habitat", he said.

The movement has received support from actress and activist Dame Emma Thompson and former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.

It said protests would continue. "We must act now".
