Jason Day of Australia hits on the fourth hole during the first round for the Masters golf tournament Thursday

Francesco Molinari fired a flawless six-under par 66 on Saturday, seizing a two stroke lead over Tiger Woods and Tony Finau in a thrilling Masters third round at Augusta National.

The ace dropped the former Alabama All-American to 9-under par for the tournament, which moved him to within two shots of the lead behind Francesco Molinari, Xander Schauffele and Tiger Woods at that time.

The 43-year-old muscled his way through a tightly packed leaderboard to win by two shots at Augusta for his first major title in 11 years and first Masters win since 2005.

2 p.m Three-time Masters victor Phil Mickelson began his third round with a par on No. 1.The 48-year-old Mickelson started Saturday three shots behind the leaders on a crowded leaderboard that includes a five-way tie for first place.

Woods finished off the win with a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday.

Finau equalled the all-time Masters scoring record on the first nine, helped by a magnificent 2nd shot at the par five eighth that left him with a tap-in eagle, leaving him in a tie with Woods for second. It's the first time three players have shot 64 or better in a single round of the Masters. He will be joined in the penultimate grouping by Simpson and Ian Poulter.

Tesla's Poor 1st Quarter Gives Battery Supplier Cold Feet
Wall Street analysts have sounded the alarm in recent months about slowing demand for Tesla's electric vehicles. The company is scheduled to report first-quarter financial results on April 24.

"As a kid, I always wanted to compete against him (Woods)", said Finau, who popped his ankle back in and bravely came back to finish 10th at last year's Masters. He has never been worse than second in that category in his four Masters victories. The wind has picked up at Augusta National over the last few hours with potential thunderstorms bearing down on the course.

Even United States President Donald Trump, who has golfed with Woods at his Mar-a-Lago resort, said on Twitter he was looking forward to Sunday's final round.

I've watched golfers near my own age, guys like Jordan Spieth, grab their own headlines, achieving what Woods hasn't in more than a decade.

Mickelson and Kuchar both sit at minus-four, three shots behind the leaders at minus-seven and the pair is slated to tee off at 10:45 p.m.

He methodically rolled in putts of six, eight and nine feet to birdie the next three - and maintained his two-shot edge by getting up and down for par from a bunker at 18.

Woods carded a five-under 67 for an 11-under 205. "I'm sorry I'm not going to say anything exciting, but just do my best, and shot by shot, see what I can do, and we'll do the sums at the end of the day and see who shot a better score".

"The day I don't feel pressure is the day I quit", Woods said. He was particularly happy to finish, especially after storms moved into the area and stopped play right after his tee shot into 5 feet on the risky par-3 12th. "Just got to keep battling and see where I leave myself tomorrow afternoon".
