Second Brexit referendum vote could happen, says Hammond

French President Emmanuel Macron right meets with British Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss Brexit issues at the Fort de Bregancon in Bornes-les-Mimosas southern France Friday Aug. 3 2018

This is our national duty as elected members of this House.

Asked by a veteran Conservative Brexiteer, Bill Cash, whether she would quit over what he called an "abject surrender" to Brussels, May said with a laugh: "I think you know the answer to that".

Farage said he did not want to be a part of a party that promoted "violence, criminal records and thuggery". She urged members of Parliament to take stock and "reflect" over a 10-day Easter break that starts Friday.

The party includes both Brexit backers and opponents - a division that has left leader Jeremy Corbyn trying to navigate a vague middle ground.

Consensus, however, was in short supply.

"The prime minister stuck rigidly to a flawed plan and now the clock has run down, leaving Britain in limbo", Corbyn said.

He said: "We have no idea who may succeed her, so with that in mind we have to entrench any agreement". "Nobody has to stay but it is also a home and we are not going to kick anyone out".

The late-night deal means Britain will not crash out of the bloc on Friday and gives Mrs May more than the three months she had asked for to build a parliamentary majority behind the withdrawal treaty she negotiated with the European Union previous year.

Boeing records zero new MAX orders following global groundings
Total orders, an indication of future demand, fell to 95 aircraft in the first quarter from 180 a year earlier. Deliveries are financially important to plane makers because that's when airlines pay most of the money.

He now hopes to transform Prime Minister Theresa May's failure to complete the split by its original March 29 deadline into big gains for Brexit supporters.

She insisted that if MPs could pass a deal before 22 May, Britain could still avoid having to participate in European parliament elections and leave the EU at the end of that month.

May was addressing lawmakers just hours after returning from a special summit in Brussels at which the other 27 European Union leaders delayed Britain's scheduled departure from the bloc from this Friday to October 31. The latest plan, in an agreement finalized this week at a summit in Brussels, is for the U.K.to depart the bloc by October 31.

Theresa May is preparing one final attempt to win backing for her Brexit blueprint to avoid the United Kingdom being forced to vote in next month's elections to the European Parliament.

The government's position has not changed.

"I joined the Conservative Party in 1984 and this is not a decision I have made lightly - to leave a party for which I have fought at every election since 1987, from Maggie Thatcher through to Theresa May", she said. He angered them again recently by describing another Brexit referendum as a "perfectly credible proposition". If that happens the only way to stop Britain crashing out would be for the Government to choose the "nuclear option" and revoke the decision to leave.

He also said if voters had wanted economic security, they would have chosen to stay in the European Union in the 2016 referendum; instead they made a political and emotional choice to leave. In the end, they chose to split the difference.
