Xiaomi teases its two-way foldable phone

The new Samsung Galaxy S10e Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S10 smartphones reviewed

Though the smartphone-cum-tablet looks futuristic, it has a lot of mechanically moving parts, making one wonder if it can match the longevity factor of the current-generation bar-shaped smartphones.

Xiaomi's foldable phone has been rumoured for quite some time now. Therefore, it was hard to know if the phone was durable.

In other news, Let's Go Digital [translated] has dug up patent filings by Samsung for a similar double-folding display.

Trying to allay fears about the durability of its hybrid smartphone, Samsung says that the Galaxy Fold will last for at least five years of normal use. Watch the stress test here.

Inside the tablet is a 4,200mAh power pack, a big step down from the Galaxy Tab 4's 7,300mAh, but that's more of a premium Android tablet. Another interesting thing is that the folded screens at the back are still lit but only the front display is seen functional. The screen also supports three multi-active windows, making it convenient to multi-task.

The Galaxy Fold will officially launch at the end of April for €2,000 in Europe and for $1,980 in the US. People in India might have to wait as the company has not yet revealed its plans to bring it to the country.

While Samsung has already patented several types of design for a foldable smartphone, another design has now been published on the Global Design Database of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office), which was filed by Samsung Electronics in 2017.
