Nintendo Reportedly Planning to Launch Two Different Switch Devices

Report: Nintendo Is Releasing Two New Switch Models

Just a day after The Wall Street Journal reported on Nintendo's plans to release two new Switch models "as early as this summer", Eurogamer has chimed in with a report of its own. Now, the Wall Street Journal reports that in addition to that smaller device, an enhanced version aimed at more hardcore gamers will also be arriving.

In regards to the latter model, it appears that the Big N will eschew features such as controller vibration to keep costs at a minimum.

On the flip side, nothing much is known regarding the other version which will be priced much higher than the current Switch console. One version will be an enhanced model targeted at avid gamers, the other will be targeted at casual gamers, hence, a cheaper budget-friendly version.

A unsafe storm tide was also predicted to hit the region early this morning and damaging waves are predicted to bring inundation. A yellow alert was issued for people in communities from Wallal and Pardoo to prepare to take action.

These new Switches could be revealed during E3 2019 in June and begin shipping just a few months later, meaning they'd be here in time for the holiday season that has been crucial to the console's success thus far. It appears that Nintendo Switch will be no exception to that, and there could be as many as two new models of Switch releasing as soon as later this year. Among them was Duck Game, produced by Vancouver-based developer Landon Podbielski and published by Adult Swim Games, which had yet to leave the nest and migrate to the Switch two years on. The company reportedly bid to make the displays for the original Switch consoles but lost out.

Either way, if you've been considering buying a Switch, you might wanna hold off for a few months. This seems like a reasonable bet, and the Switch is one cow Nintendo will be keen to squeeze the Lon Lon milk out of. Details on if this device would even be playable in a docked mode were unknown, though comparisons were drawn to the Nintendo 2DS which came after the 3DS.
