Subscription service for $9.99/month, plus Apple Card and Arcade

Apple prepares to unveil TV and news subscription services

Its biggest initiative is entertainment streaming service Apple TV+, which, in an effort to attract a wider audience than just Apple customers, will be available on smart TVs.

Apple had former Sony executives Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg, whom Apple hired away two years ago, on stage to announce the company's original content investment. Walt Disney, which bought 21st Century Fox, and AT&T, which purchased Time Warner, plan to launch or test new streaming video services this year. Apple said the gaming service will feature more than 100 exclusive titles from gaming partners such as Annapurna Interactive and that the service will arrive this autumn.

Apple said it was producing a variety of original content for the service, though it didn't announced pricing or a release date. If you don't have a great internet connection, you'll be able to download games and play them offline.

Apple also introduced updates to its payment system, launched a games arcade, and added magazines to its news app. Though many mobile games are given out for free, players can rack up hundreds of dollars for optional extras such as virtual weapons. Apple Pay will be available in more than 40 countries by the end of the year.

Apple took a bite out of Monday's news cycle by at last announcing a timetable for its much-anticipated streaming service.

Apple is officially joining the ranks of the world's biggest streaming giants.

You can still see the full presentation through Apple's website. This is in contrast to the sometimes-confusing alphabet soup people can see on their credit card statements.

Trump reversing new sanctions on North Korea
Mark Warner, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said it's "amateur hour" at the Trump White House. Choe was careful not to criticize Trump, a consistent strategy throughout Pyongyang's talks with Washington .

Apple didn't unveil a bundle of multiple subscriptions at the event - something analysts and investors were watching for. Apple says the card has no late fees, annual fees or fees for going over the credit limit.

Apple also introduced a titanium, laser-etched Apple Card backed by Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Mastercard Inc that can track spending across devices and pay daily cash back on purchases. Here's what we know so far.

Four years ago, we got our first glimpse at Apple News, created to provide millions of iOS users with easy access to curated, top-quality journalism.

Apple's goal, other sources have told Reuters, is to bring together television shows in one place to make it easier to find, buy and watch them. Facebook, for instance, might target ads based on your past reading of specific publications or topics, such as gun control or the environment.

Some of the new magazine offerings in the service include Time, Vogue, People, National Geographic and several others, according to logos that appeared on screen.
