Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina collapses during Napoli match

Serie A David Ospina hospitalised after collapsing on pitch during Napoli’s win over Udinese

Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina was taken to hospital after failing to recover from a head injury sustained early on in the clash with Udinese. The goalkeeper was tended to immediately again before being driven off the pitch on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital. Ospina underwent a CAT scan and stayed in hospital overnight for observation.

The Colombia worldwide received treatment after colliding with striker Ignacio Pussetto minutes into the game at the Stadio San Paolo.

After the initial contact, physios came on and bandaged up his head. He arrived at Napoli last August on a one-year loan with an option to buy.

He is likely to remain at Napoli, who have a £4million clause agreed to make the purchase this summer.

Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti visited Ospina on Monday morning at the Pineta Grande Clinic where he was transferred and placed under observation for 24 hours after Sunday's game.

Ospina signed for the Gunners in July 2014 but has only made 27 league appearances for the Premier League side.

Second-half strikes from Arek Milik and Dries Mertens denied the Dacia Arena outfit a share of spoils and saw them drop to the 16th spot.

"Ospina will remain at Napoli next season, regardless of how many games he plays", the Napoli boss said in February, per FourFourTwo.

The Italians were drawn against Arsenal in the Europa League quarter-finals and will travel to London on April 11.
