Lombok quake: Remains of two Malaysians to be flown back today

At least 2 dead, dozens injured after Indonesia quake

The first victim was identified as Datin Tai Siew Kim, 56, a deputy executive chief editor at Sin Chew Daily, one of Malaysia's most popular Chinese newspapers; the second victim was named as Lim Sai Wah.

He said rescuers managed to evacuate 22 Malaysians and 14 Indonesians from the waterfall site, and 50 others - mostly local surveyors from government institutions, the military and the police - from the mountainous area.

It has been reported that effects from the natural disaster were felt in north Lombok and other areas, as well as in Bali.

"They were Malaysians. Two were killed while six others were injured", ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said at a press briefing in Jakarta on Monday.

The quake, which struck around 2.07pm local time, caused a landslide that trapped about 40 tourists at the Tiu Kelep waterfall in Senaru Village, north of Lombok.

The remains of two Malaysians who were killed in a landslide triggered by the 5.8 magnitude quake in Lombok yesterday, are scheduled to arrive in Malaysia at 5.10pm today.
