'Full House' star Lori Loughlin, others indicted in college admissions bribery case

Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman Charged in College Admission Scam

The racketeering conspiracy case includes the parents of applicants, ACT and SAT administrators, a test proctor, and coaches at universities including University of San Diego, UCLA, USC, Georgetown University, Stanford University, University of Texas, Wake Forest and Yale. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud in indictments unsealed Tuesday in federal court in Boston.

Those charged in the case allegedly paid bribes of up to $6 million to get their children into college.

A nationwide college admissions cheating scandal appears to have implications in Houston.

The goal of the alleged scam was to help student athletes get into college, regardless of their athletic ability, according to the indictment.

Former Desperate Housewives and American Crime Story star Felicity Huffman is among at least 40 people charged in a USA college cheating scam.

Huffman is accused of paying $15,000 - disguised as a charitable donation - to the Key Worldwide Foundation so her oldest daughter could participate in the scam.

North Korea Refuses to Hold WHO Regional Session Due to Sanctions
South Korean tours to the venerated Mount Kumgang ended in 2008 after a South Korean tourist was shot by a North Korean guard. The diplomat also called on the United Nations to revise its resolutions on sanctions against North Korea.

Huffman, an Academy Award nominee, has been charged with felony conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, according to court paperwork filed Monday in federal court in MA. A confidential informant told investigators that he told Huffman he could arrange for a third party to correct her daughter's answers on the SAT after she took it.

Federal authorities also charged current and former college coaches, administrators of college entrance exam, CEOs, and others in federal court. Loughlin's husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, was charged with the same felony as well as honest services mail fraud.

According to the indictment, a USC employee Homayoun H. Zadeh was also involved, but was not a member of the athletic department's staff. Zadeh allegedly "conspired to bribe Heinel to designate his daughter as a lacrosse recruit-despite the fact that she did not play lacrosse competitively-thereby facilitating her admission to USC".

USA attorney Andrew Lelling said the plot was set up to guarantee admissions to top colleges for students, in his words, "not on their merits, but through fraud".

The Newport Beach, Calif., businessman agreed to plead guilty in Boston federal court Tuesday to charges including racketeering conspiracy and obstruction of justice. Representatives for Loughlin had no comment.

To make the admission look legit, prosecutors allege fake athletic profiles were also created to make the applicants look like strong athletes when they were not.
