Sherrod Brown Won't Run For President

Sherrod Brown

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown says he won't run for president after making an exploratory swing through early-voting states.

But the Ohio Democrat said he still plans to play an active role in 2020 to help keep the issue of workers' rights at the forefront of the presidential campaign.

The 66-year-old Left-leaning populist has always been considered an ideal candidate to take on President Donald Trump in the 2020 election but said in a statement that he believes he can do more to fight Trump in the Senate. He typically wears a canary pin on the lapel of his union-made suits to memorialize coal miners without adequate protections who had to use canaries to warn them about poisonous gases underground.

Brown's appeal among working-class voters will nonetheless position him to play an influential role in the general election, especially as Democrats vie to take back OH after the battleground swung in Trump's favor in 2016. And some Democrats believed he could appeal to both the party's left-leaning base and Trump voters because of similar positions to the president on issues like trade.

The biggest unanswered questions in Captain Marvel
The villainous Skrull have an agenda of their own, and they can also shape-shift into a mirror image of anyone they see. But this is the origin story they went with and it does not include Bening teaching Larson how to fly a fighter plane.

"We're doing a dignity of work listening tour", Brown told CNN about the tour. And he says his "Dignity of Work" tour has accomplished that because numerous candidates in the race are now talking more about those issues. So, I will not run for President in 2020.

First, I want to say thank you. I fight best when I bring joy to the battle. But Republican lawmakers in the Ohio House are fighting him on it, proposing to raise the fuel tax by just 10.7 cents on gasoline and 20 cents on diesel.

You know being President isn't something I've dreamed of my whole life. In announcing his decision on Thursday, Brown pledged to continue pushing Democrats to focus on the "dignity of work", a term that became the senator's trademark during his 2020 exploration.

"We've seen candidates begin taking up the dignity of work fight, and we have seen voters across the country demanding it - because dignity of work is a value that unites all of us", Brown said on Thursday. He recently finished his tour of the early-primary states - Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and SC - and as recently as the weekend hinted that he was going to jump in.
