McGregor and Nurmagomedov both suspended

Conor McGregor Max Holloway

Both suspensions have been backdated to the date of the Las Vegas fight.

Nurmagomedov received a nine-month suspension and a 500,000 U.S. dollars (£380,000) fine after he instigated the post-fight melee. Nurmagomedov's suspension can be lowered to six months if he delivers a public service announcement on anti-bullying to the commission.

Nurmagomedov leapt over the Octagon fence to engage in a physical altercation with McGregor cornerman Dillon Danis.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's hearing over the brawl in the aftermath of his fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 229 began on Tuesday. Nurmagomedov apologised for his actions but said he had been provoked during the build-up to the fight, when McGregor had mocked his religion, father and country.

The 30-year-old threw his gumshield towards McGregor's corner, scaled the octagon before attempting to attack someone in the Irishman's team in the crowd.

LeBron James steps up comeback but unlikely to face Clippers
Brandon Ingram and the Lakers are back on the floor against the Clippers on Thursday night from the Staples Center at 10:30 pm ET. Joel Embiid and the Sixers pick up their third win in the last 4 games against Javale McGee and the Lakers .

Nurmagomedov's two teammates who were also involved in the melee on October 6 - Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov - were each fined $25,000 and suspended for a year.

However, Khabib would still be eligible to return to UFC at the end of June, even if the nine-month ban stands.

The lightweight division is the most talent-stacked in the UFC and other fighters deserve a title shot over McGregor, but none of them come close to the star-power McGregor possesses.

He was the first fighter to simultaneously hold two UFC titles at once when he beat Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight strap at UFC 205 in 2016.

Khabib, having made McGregor submit in the fourth round after a dominant display, launched himself out of the Octagon towards Mcgregor's staff in the crowd which sparked a very big melee.
