Matthew Whitaker: Mueller Probe 'Close To Being Completed'

Robert Mueller investigation is 'close to being completed,' acting attorney general says

Robert Mueller has nearly finished his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election, the acting attorney general has said.

"I hope that we can get the report from Director Mueller as soon as possible", Whitaker said. He said some of those conversations included "general discussion of the Special Counsel's investigation in which I gave my views on such matters as Bob Mueller's high integrity and various media reports".

"Some of the investigation's prosecutors moved to different jobs outside of Mueller's office" and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was overseeing Mueller's operation, will leave his post next month.

"I am comfortable that the decisions that were made are going to be um reviewed, you know, through the various means we have", Whitaker said of the investigation.

Roger Stone was indicted for allegedly obstructing Robert Mueller's probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation before the 2016 United States election.

Whitaker's remarks came just days after Mueller ordered the dramatic predawn arrest of former Trump adviser Roger Stone on charges he allegedly lied to Congress and directed another witness to do the same. "I'm 66 years old, I do not own a gun, I do not have a valid passport, I have no prior criminal record, I'm charged with nonviolent process crimes", Stone told reporters Monday "To storm my house with greater force than was used to take down bin Laden or El Chapo or Pablo Escobar, it's unconscionable".

Although only two league places now separate these teams, in truth the gulf between them is huge . I've not had a squad number since, and David Luiz went on to take No30!,' he says.

Trump has repeatedly denounced the investigation as a "political witch hunt" and fervently denied there was any collusion between his campaign and Moscow.

"I would not countenance changing the existing regulations for the objective of removing Special Counsel Mueller without good cause", Barr wrote to the senators.

Stone has insisted he was joking, and the indictment does not charge Stone with conspiring with WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy website that published emails of Democrats during the 2016 campaign, or with the Russian officers Mueller says hacked them.

Barr described the Pence conversations in response to a question from Whitehouse about whether he had ever discussed Mueller's investigation with anyone at the White House.

Whitaker was installed as acting attorney general in November, after Trump ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
