However, as noted, it later turned out that four officers were shot and the fifth was injured during the chaos.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo confirmed in a news conference Monday night that five officers had been injured in southeast Houston and taken to a hospital.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner tweeted: "I am waiting to get a status report".

Four of the officers were shot, and one was injured during the exchange of gunfire. Officers condition still unknown.

"This evening's horrific attack on police officers is a solemn reminder of the service and sacrifice our fearless men and women in law enforcement make every day to keep us safe", Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said. The news outlet reported that two suspects are dead at the scene.

"Immediately upon breaking the door the officers came under fire from one or more suspects in the house", said Acevedo, adding that the officers were shot with semi-automatic pistols. One of the officers was taken by LifeFlight helicopter crews.

"Because the man was making those movements, and movements that suggest that he might do harm to an officer, and then the officer Tasers the suspect", Gaw said, "Later fearing for the officer's safety and the citizens around he discharges his weapon a couple of times at the suspect". They were in surgery Monday evening.
