Djokovic sets up blockbuster Australian Open final with Nadal

Novak Djokovic's son gave tennis ace winning pep-talk before Aus Open semi-final

Nadal cruised to a 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 victory and will face either Novak Djokovic or Lucas Pouille in the Australian Open final. The six-times champion was at his devastating best in the one hour and 23 minute procession as he gave the hapless Pouille a brutal lesson in Grand Slam tennis and extended his ideal semi-finals record to 7-0 at Melbourne Park.

The last time Djokovic faced Nadal, who has won 17 Grand Slam titles, at the Rod Laver Arena, the Serb won a five-hour-53-minute epic at the 2012 tournament, the longest Grand Slam final on record.

It would also be their first clash in Australia since their 2012 final epic, a five-set, nearly six-hour clash won by Djokovic.

"It is definitely one of the best matches I've ever had on this court, definitely", added Djokovic, who hit 24 winners and had just five unforced errors. "Of course, you want to come out as a victor from those matches, but at the same time understanding that you really took everything you have out on the court and you left your heart, you can be content with that", he said.

"Everything worked how I imagined it before the match - it was a tough one for Lucas".

If he wins, he would be the first man in the Open era to have won all four Grand Slams at least twice.

The number 1 seed was also all praise for Pouille saying, "I have always thought he's a great quality player and what he has done this tournament is fantastic".

"I'm not going to put my hand up and say Rafael Nadal is not fit".

It was one of the most ruthless, one-sided matches of this year's Australian Open and has set-up a classic encounter with No2 seed Rafa Nadal on Sunday. "I'm just trying to focus on my game, not on the consequences and the results".

The two have never met in any global competition and there is a wide gap of 30 ranking spots between the 14-time Grand Slam champion and the first-time Major semi-finalist.

Venezuela Is Stuck In A Tug-Of-War Between Two Presidents (HBO)
Iran, Syria, Cuba and Turkey have also said they continue to support Maduro's government. Some U.S. diplomats began exiting Venezuela on Friday.

Now, Calvert has broken down the 2019 Australian Open men's singles final and released a highly confident pick on Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal.

Calvert proved it once again in the semis, when he told his followers to back Nadal -6.5 games over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

There is no much to talk about the semifinal as the world no.1 was absolutely flawless to commit only 5 unforced errors in the entire match.

He won 25 of 34 points on Pouille's second serve and broke the guy seven times.

The considerable consolation is that the stage is now set for another chapter in one of the great tennis rivalries, and their first slam final since the 2014 French Open.

That Nadal came here without having played a competitive match since the US Open last September makes his performances all the more remarkable.

Even managed to deliver a second-serve ace.

"You just happen to be in that zone that we all strive for", he said.

'We have slightly different rules this year (the shot clock and super tie-break) so I don't think we will go that far'.
