A "Triple Winter Threat" Is About To Slam Southern Ontario This Weekend

'Significant Winter Storm' Possible For Maine This Weekend

A major storm is expected to hit Utah Thursday, bringing widespread heavy snow and strong winds, and possibly two feet of snow to some areas of Utah.

The first storm could drop between a coating to an inch of snow late Thursday into Friday morning before shifting to rain across MA, according to meteorologist Josh Wurster. Meteorologists predict that heavy snow from the eastern Great Lakes to northern New England is most likely, as well as sleet and freezing rain in the Ohio Valley and Appalachians. Temperatures starting near 30 Saturday plunge into the teens by Sunday.

On Sunday night and Monday, temperatures across the East Coast are expected to plummet to 15 to 25 degrees below normal, and some places might get below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

The final, and maybe the worst part of this triple threat is the wind chill factor. There are still a lot of questions with this system, and timing of the changeover from rain to snow is critical and can make a big difference in accumulations.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for portions of northern Missouri, where additional snowfall is possible.

"We are going to have snow this weekend, a good possibility of it anyway, with several inches possible", Seeley said.

Saturday: Cloudy to partly sunny with blowing snow in the morning.

The rain will end in Philadelphia Sunday morning but Boston won't see an end to its snow and ice until Sunday night. Temperatures will reach the low 20s, but with the wind chill, it will feel like below-zero temperatures.

Snow totals will depend on the track of the storm. It's heavy for a time before becoming a wintry mix Sunday.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Travel could be very hard to impossible. South of the Missouri River, snow is expected to start falling closer to 9 p.m.
