-Mexican border, a dispute that has led to a 19-day partial government shutdown. Lawmakers also are anxious about missed paychecks for government workers Friday. Among Republicans, however, support for the wall is much stronger, with 77 percent approving and 54 percent supporting the shutdown as a means to that end.

Trump was almost halfway through his 9-minute address before he mentioned the wall, describing it as a request from law enforcement rather than his longstanding political pledge. "A very interesting experience!"

"The people out there want something to happen at our Southern border", Trump said.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer took to television last night, after Donald Trump's address, to express their own side of the story.

"Nancy said, NO", the president wrote. "Again, we saw a temper tantrum because he couldn't get his way, and he just walked out of the meeting".

"Unfortunately, the President just got up and walked out", Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told reporters outside the White House.

Democrats accused the president of using the shutdown to gain political leverage, while forcing Transportation Security Administration officers, food safety inspectors and Border Patrol agents to work without pay.

"It's not going to change a damn thing, but I'm still doing it", Trump said, according to the New York Times. "I think it is a waste of money. It's ridiculous", said Senator Angus King, a ME independent who caucuses with Democrats.

Eagles’ Jake Elliott speaks on Bears’ Cody Parkey
It was Pederson's final gamble in a bid to mentally shake the Bears' kicker - and it worked. "I thought I hit a good ball". Foles will lead the Eagles into New Orleans on Sunday as the Birds face the Saints in the Divisional Round.

"We have been negotiating", she said.

But Murkowski told reporters that six shuttered federal departments other than the Department of Homeland Security "don't have anything to do with border security". "We need to figure out how to get this government open, number one, and fix our borders, number two".

Earlier, Trump met with GOP senators, urging his fellow Republicans not to waver in their demand for a border wall.

He tweets that once Pelosi rejected his long-stalled border wall, he "said bye-bye, nothing else works!" "We don't think that's the American way".

He asserts that the government remains shut down because Democrats won't fund border security.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed Customs and Border Patrol a year ago apprehended almost 4,000 known or suspected terrorists at the U.S. -Mexico border. While he's largely kept his opinions to himself, on Tuesday, before Trump addressed the nation, Morgan vocalized his support for the president's plans. They say the shutdown continues only because Trump refuses to drop his demand for $5.7 billion in wall funding.

The president argued the wall was needed to resolve a "humanitarian and national security crisis on our southern border", as he portrayed immigrants as violent criminals. "This is a humanitarian crisis, a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul". Unsafe drugs like heroin are flooding our country through the southern border, destroying lives by the hundreds-of-thousands. In each case, the report said the vast majority of the drugs comes in through existing points of entry, most commonly in cars, which would not be stopped by a border wall.

Trump left the meeting with an upbeat message, saying Senate Republicans are "unified" while Democrats are anything but.
