People Are So Not Here for Ellen's Defense of Kevin Hart

Ellen DeGeneres is facing backlash from some parts of the LGBT+ community, particularly queer people of colour, after backing Kevin Hart to host this year's Oscars. has learned the beloved talk show host is now under fire after publicly defending her longtime pal, Kevin Hart, over his homophobic tweet scandal. "I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past".

After their interview aired, many fans took to Twitter to disavow Hart - and also DeGeneres, for saying that those who criticized Hart's refusal to apologize for past homophobia were just "haters".

"It's tough for me because it was an attack, a malicious attack on my character, to end me", Hart says in the interview which airs today.

Kevin Hart is Ellen Degeneres' guest for the full hour of her talk show on Friday, and in preview clips released early Friday morning the comedian talks in depth about the controversy around his old homophobic tweets that forced him to step down as host of the 2019 Academy Awards. "I'm going to ignore it because it's ten years old".

It should be noted that during the junket for Get Hard in 2015, journalist Louis Virtel asked Hart directly about that film's somewhat homophobic slant, and Hart responded that "funny is amusing". "So I don't know the flawless individual that society is now looking for - it's not me", Kevin told Ellen.

And while Hart and DeGeneres' heart-to-heart seemed to be okay for a few minutes, shocked viewers soon started to react - and not in a good way. "That was a guy that was just looking for laughs and it was stupid and I don't do that anymore".

Kawhi Leonard and Gregg Popovich shared a special moment after final whistle
And his old coach, I'm guessing, will always have a special place in his heart for Leonard for what they accomplished together. The Spurs now have a record of 22-17 and are seventh place in the Western Conference. "We'll see tonight, I don't know".

Hart said the conversation made him reevaluate his position. "'Kevin we want you to host because we want you to lighten the mood up and bring you and your essence to this night'". I think we love to make big deals out of things that aren't necessarily big deals because we can.

She wrote in another post: "In this conversation, @KevinHart4real was authentic and real, and I'm in his corner".

"You can't grow as a person without mistakes". I think they were secretly hoping that you'd come back.

Meghan McCain, however, thought Hart needed to do a little more before all is forgiven. "Please accept my apology'".

"Where I was at that point - an immature comic". The comedian explains how he has apologized in the past for the same exact incident, and shares the reason for leaving the host gig is because he doesn't want the cloud of hate to distract the audience from the prestigious Oscars night. "What you do when you move forward is become better". "But I don't believe in going backwards".

Though he stayed firm on his stance that he won't host the show, he does believe that he'll be on the stage one day, and insisted that "there's no ill will toward the Academy". Once again, I'm sorry if these words hurt.
