'He should've come to us': Lehmann after Bancroft interview

New interview: Bancroft lays blame squarely on Warner for Sandpaper Scandal

Banished Australia captain Smith and Warner were banned for 12 months from global and state cricket for their roles in the ball-tampering controversy against South Africa at Newlands in March.

A five-match ODI series to be hosted by Pakistan has always been mooted for March, 2019 as teams look to fine-tune for next year's World Cup in England.

Bancroft, 26, said he "didn't know any better" than to agree to Warner's request, but despite fingering him as the man who made the request - he also claimed he would have felt "like I'd let everybody down" had he not carried out the sandpaper plot.

Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has slammed Cameron Bancroft for a tell-all interview in which he detailed David Warner as the ringleader in the ball-tampering scandal. "There's lots of conversations going on about what's best for our bowlers, for the guys returning, and we'll work through that".

The only player to remain quiet so far is David Warner and on Cricket 360, Gerard Whateley and Robert Craddock speculated about the response.

Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, who conducted the interviews with Bancroft and Smith for Fox Sports, urged Warner to give his side of the story for the sake of his future global career. "Some of the things he's had to say have actually done more damage to his brand than what had happened before", Ponting said.

He also said several times during a March media conference that he took "full responsibility for the part I played" in the scandal.

Now Bancroft has detailed the events in Cape Town in March this year, telling Fox Sports, the Australian braodcaster, he did not know any better and just "wanted to fit in and feel valued".

"I would encourage Dave to come out wherever and just be honest and as open as you need to be to get back to playing cricket".

911 mobile services are gradually returning after CenturyLink outage
CenturyLink said it "discovered some additional technical problems as our service restoration efforts were underway". The Federal Communication Commission announced Friday afternoon it had launched an investigation into the outages .

"I think it'd be good for everyone to hear his side of the story and how it got to that situation where they thought to do what they did", said recent Test selector Waugh, who insists he would pick Warner for the World Cup and Ashes.

The same information was contained in Cricket Australia's formal investigation of the sandpaper saga but Bancroft is yet to revisit the incident in such detail. But he made he clear he did not consider himself a victim.

"(That was) the fact I went out with an intentional decision to tamper with the ball".

Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts said Wednesday it was time to move on.

Even as the Australian cricket team faced a mounting first innings total from India at the MCG in the third Test, the focus has returned on the infamous 'Sandpapergate'.

He also said he understands why Bancroft and Smith wanted to talk about the issue again.

To have a 25-year-old seasoned first-class player convinced he would have felt just as bad had he not cheated in Cape Town is perhaps one of the more alarming admissions about the entire ball-tampering affair.

Bancroft is set to make his return from a nine-month ban for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash against the Hurricanes in Hobart on Sunday, December 30.
