Black Mirror: Bandersnatch lands on Netflix this week

Netflix reveal new details about Black Mirror's choose your own adventure episode

And once players got to the meat of the episode, all bets were off.

If you think Netflix was done with 2018, we have some news for you.

"It was hard all the way through", series creator Charlie Brooker was quoted as saying. But there are also multiple variations of each ending, so chances are slim of you getting the exact same story as another viewer.

So what is Bandersnatch about? Starring Will Poulter, Fionn Whitehead and Asim Chaudhry, the programme's synopsis reads: "In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge".

The idea to create an interactive movie was first presented in 2017. In 2016, when Brooker and his team were developing the Season 4 episode "Playtest", Netflix's team suggested adding an interactive element to the episode. "Like Motown, but for computer games", a man tells Stefan. But for others, you will receive the option to do it over.

This episode can apparently end in five different ways, with variations on each depending on the path you've taken.

DJ Swearinger Announces He's Been Claimed by Cardinals on Instagram
In 20 games with the Cardinals in 2015 and 2016, Swearinger posted three interceptions, two sacks and a forced fumble. Now that he's no longer with the club, Swearinger isn't holding back.

That said, the choose-your-own adventure function isn't available on all devices.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is set in 1980s London. But it leaves mysterious whether viewers will have a choice in the matter in the final moments of Bandersnatch.

But its latest interactive story is definitely not a kids one. With Bandersnatch, Brooker and Jones take their explorations on digital consciousness a step further: They make viewers complicit by putting them in control. You'll have to watch it for yourself!

In typical "Black Mirror" style, Netflix has only released vague details about the plot. The interactive film "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" is now out on Netflix.

Black Mirror's Bandersnatch company Tuckersoft has a website and is recruiting engineers for Netflix. You can let Tuckersoft's developers help Stefan make Bandersnatch, or have him make it alone, which will shape its overall success.

Up until the release of the trailer, however, Netflix had declined to comment on or confirm Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, making the trailer the first official confirmation.
