RBG Works From Hospital After Lung Cancer Surgery

US progressives cautiously optimistic about health of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ginsburg is now "recuperating at home", after doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital in NY performed surgery on Ginsburg to remove cancerous growths found on her left lung.

Both were successfully removed at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and afterwards "there was no evidence of any remaining disease", it added.

"Justice Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recuperating at home", Kathy Arberg, public information officer for the Supreme Court, told reporters in an email Wednesday. She just recently resumed a public schedule after being hospitalized for observation and treatment after fracturing three ribs following a fall in her office on November 7.

The court next meets on January 7.

Ravens stun Chargers, Titans rip Redskins to boost NFL playoff hopes
The Pittsburgh Steelers , Baltimore Ravens , Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans are battling for two AFC playoff berths. The Houston Texans (9-4) have a fast track to the third seed and maybe the second seed if things break right for them.

The 85-year-old is the most senior liberal justice on the court. Ginsburg, 85, is still at a New York City hospital and no date has been set for her return to Washington. Ginsburg has said she plans to stay on the bench as long as she can do the job "at full steam".

Among other health problems, she also broke two ribs in a fall in 2012 and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014. She underwent surgery for colorectal cancer in 1999 and was treated for early stages of pancreatic cancer in 2009. Felicity Jones now stars as a young Ginsburg in the biopic "On the Basis of Sex".

Ginsburg was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton in 1993.
