Despite Government shutdown, NORAD tracks Santa! Live view and hotline number

Jolly good Santa has his work cut out

NORAD's Santa tracker followers the man in red on his Christmas Eve voyage.

NORAD - a joint U.S. and Canadian command - is responsible for aerospace and maritime control as well as warning missions.

But Coleman got an early surprise when he was put through, not to Santa, but the US President himself, Donald Trump.

NORAD has been tracking Santa's Christmas Eve journey for the past 63 years. The tradition has been around since the 1950s, though there's some dispute as to the nature of how it began.

But if you'd rather keep it old school, you can simply dial 1-877-HI-NORAD to speak to a volunteer. "His trip seems to take 24 hours to us, but to Santa it might last days, weeks or even months".

At what age do children wise up to the truth about Santa?

The center, in the spirit of the season spent the night answering the phones and kept all the curious callers informed about Santa's whereabouts. After listening, Mr. Trump said, "Because at 7, it's marginal, right?"

Turkey Boosts Military Presence In Syria As Erdogan, Trump Discuss US Pullout
But President Trump, who has long favored a US withdrawal from the Middle East, has received praise from some quarters. A recent U.S. report said there were still as many as 14,000 IS militants in Syria and even more in neighbouring Iraq.

US President Donald Trump set off a Christmas social media storm when he suggested to a seven-year-old boy that he was too old to believe in Santa Claus.

As of 3:19 pm he is over Lome, Togo working his way around the world delivering Christmas gifts to all. The president and first lady traditionally take NORAD calls on Christmas Eve.

"Nothing new", Trump said, according to Reuters.

The US government shutdown may have temporarily dimmed Washington's National Christmas Tree but never fear, Santa Claus is still comin' to town - and the military is tracking his path.

It was not immediately clear whether Coleman made a decision to forego leaving cookies and milk out for Santa this year.

In addition to the NORAD Tracks Santa program and church services Christmas Eve, Trump participated in another holiday tradition, wishing USA troops stationed around the country and the globe a merry Christmas.

From the whole team at SEJ, a very Merry Christmas to all!
