Cloudy & gloomy but mostly dry for Christmas

Heavy snow will slam central US in wake of Christmas

Tomorrow highs will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s with winds SE 5-15, gusting up to 20 miles per hour with scattered rain throughout the entire day.

We're starting the week on a bright and generally pleasant note as high pressure brings sunshine, light winds, and seasonable temperatures for our Christmas Eve. We'll start Christmas Day off with mostly dry conditions, then a small chance of light snow will arrive in the early afternoon, mainly across central WI. By Thursday afternoon, the rain will be poised to move in.

Right now, it looks like an inch or two of snow is expected across the Denver area Wednesday. The storm could drop as much as 9 inches of snow, but those areas are primarily south of the Bemidji area, the forecast said.

"We could get snow, or maybe a cold rain", he said Monday.

An 8-year-old Guatemalan boy dies in US custody on Christmas
The father and son were not identified, and the agency statement said it will release more details "as available and appropriate". CBP announced new notification procedures in response to Jakelin's death, which was not revealed until several days later.

Expect periods of heavy snow Wednesday, Thursday and even into Friday morning.

Tonight, a powerful storm system will begin to plow toward Kansas from the southern Rockies with rain showers expected across parts of our state by daybreak Wednesday. Christmas Day will be the calm before the storm.

While many people may be dreaming of a white Christmas this year, the chances of a snow-covered winter wonderland for the holiday are fairly low for most people.

Temperatures will be a fair amount cooler this weekend. High temperatures Friday will be in the upper 20s with strong, gusty northwest winds.
