China’s Huawei says it has secured over 25 commercial 5G contracts

Czech warning over Huawei, ZTE security ‘threat’

He made the remarks after a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, who insisted authorities were acting "scrupulously" in Meng's detention.

China on Wednesday said it was not aware of the detention of the third Canadian as reported by the Canadian media.

Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou as part of a US -led extradition bid, though Beijing has deflected questions about any link between the detained Canadians and the Chinese executive's case.

Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of Huawei and daughter of its founder, was arrested at the request of the US on suspicion that she had been seeking to circumvent USA sanctions on Iran.

Days later, two Canadians were detained in Beijing for allegedly endangering China's national security.

Huawei, which makes equipment for mobile networks and smartphones, has repeatedly denied its products are a security risk. But third-party sources who said they spoke to the family of the person suggest the person is not a diplomatic official, nor an entrepreneur operating in China.

The United States is pressuring partners and allies to ban Huawei products, and the European Union is also said to be investigating whether the Chinese equipment indeed poses a security threat. It has demanded her release and warned of serious consequences for Canada.

President Putin says West trying to 'hold back' powerful Russian Federation
The U.S. has said it would exit the agreement because Russian Federation had violated its terms. Russian President Vladimir Putin says leaving the treaty "would be a very risky step".

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called for China to release the Canadians, saying their detention was "unlawful" and "unacceptable".

Meng, the 46-year-old daughter of Ren, has said in a sworn affidavit she is innocent and will contest the allegations against her at trial if she is surrendered to the United States.

The cost of building an entire 5G network in Australia would be higher by several billion dollars, said Hu, adding that was what even worse was that the time for people to adopt and use 5G technology would be delayed.

Although Huawei has not been able to sell equipment or smartphones to the major wireless network operators in the U.S., a large number of small and regional wireless network operators do use equipment from Huawei.

"Although achieving a China-Canada Free Trade Agreement faces new obstacles due to reasons known to all, the two sides can strengthen policy co-ordination and adopt trade and investment facilitation", Lu said in a speech at Ottawa's Carleton University that was posted on the Chinese embassy's website.

Asked at what point he might escalate his concerns to China's president, Trudeau said political posturing or statements are not necessarily going to help those detained.

The arrest of the Garratts came shortly after a Chinese businessman was picked up on a USA warrant in Canada.
