Meadows out of running for chief of staff

Mick Mulvaney director of the Office of Management and Budget will be acting White House chief of staff when John Kelly leaves at the end of the year

President Donald Trump announced Friday evening that he's picking Mulvaney to serve as his acting Chief of Staff.

"Mick has done an outstanding job while in the Administration", Trump wrote in a tweet Friday. The source added that Kelly was happy with the choice of Mulvaney and plans to stay on through the end of the year to assist with the transition.

Trump, in his tweet Friday, thanked Kelly for his service, calling him "a great patriot". "More importantly, Director Mulvaney believes in the President - because he is working every day to lift up millions of Americans and stands up for our great country".

Mr Kushner and wife Ivanka had been advocating for Mr Nick Ayers, the chief of staff for Vice-President Mike Pence.

But it is widely reported Mr Trump does not enjoy reading briefs, makes up policy on the hoof and has little time for detailed analysis, making the chief of staff's role much harder than usual.

On Thursday, Mr Trump said he was considering as many as five people to fill the vacancy that will be left when his current chief, retired general John Kelly, leaves the job early in the new year.

Edmonton among multiple Canadian cities investigating bomb threats
The large number of calls caused delays in officer response times, but police believed the threats were all part of a hoax. I write you to inform you that my man has hidden the bomb (tronitrotoluene) in the building where your company is located.

Trump has announced that he will be naming Mick Mulvaney as the new acting White House Chief of Staff. Mulvaney is a well-known Bitcoin proponent and has previously expressed his support of blockchain technology.

The chaotic process is hardly a novelty for the Trump administration, which has struggled with high staff turnover and attracting top talent, but it underscored the tumult of Trump's Washington. If you become chief of staff in this White House, you either have a scenario where Jared is not reporting to you, or he is quote "reporting" to you.

The chief of staff job is "his to lose", this administration official told CNN. "It's my vision - it is my vision, after all", Trump said.

Trump, by contrast, has insisted he has multiple candidates eager to take the job.

Mr Mulvaney, 51, is a former Republican Congressman and the video, which was obtained by the Daily Beast, was taken during a debate with Democratic challenger Fran Person in York, South Carolina.

Kushner, who is married to the president's daughter and senior advisor Ivanka Trump, met with Trump on Wednesday to discuss the position, CBS reported. But Ayers quickly withdrew himself from consideration, opting to return to Georgia and spend time with his family.
