Cameroon stripped of 2019 African Cup of Nations in June

New Caf President Ahmad Ahmad

Africa's governing body of football made the decision Friday after a meeting of its executive committee.

And the decision was taken in an extraodrinary meeting on Friday afternoon where CAF president Ahmed Ahmed faced the media to explain why the decision has been taken to put the tournament back on the market for official bids.

"CAF will ensure that a new host is in place by 31st December, 2018, and it will communicate openly and transparently on the process and subsequent decision".

Earlier, the executive committee of CAF are to meet in the Ghanaian capital Accra on the sidelines of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations tournament, an official of the Cairo-based told AFP.

"The final decision will be taken in late November after the last inspection visit which will involve audit firm Roland Berger".

U.S. Soldiers Killed by Roadside Bomb in Afghanistan
Afghan security forces members expressed condolences for the Americans fatally wounded by the latest violence in the province. Jasso was likely accidentally shot by our Afghan partner force", according to an Operation Resolute Support press release.

Though the tournament is scheduled to be held in June/July, its expansion from 16 teams to 24 means more facilities would have to be made available by the host nation.

South Africa stepped in for war-torn Libya in 2013, Equatorial Guinea replaced Morocco in 2015 and Gabon stood in for Libya, which again couldn't host past year.

This will be the second time in recent memory that CAF has stripped a country of hosting rights of a continental tournament.

Those preparations have been criticized regularly since Cameroon won the right to host in 2014, but gained momentum in September when CAF, which had previously been unwilling to criticize the country publicly, said there was a "significant delay" with stadiums and other tournament-related infrastructure.

Increasing the field of the Nations Cup and switching its hosting to mid-year were among reforms announced last year in a major overhaul of the African game.
