Ivanka Trump Defends Using Private Email Account For Government Work

Ivanka Trump

The president has defended his daughter's private email use, telling reporters last week that he looked at the matter and concluded that "they're all in presidential records".

Senior Republicans and Democrats in Congress have vowed to investigate Trump's communications following a Washington Post report this month that she sent hundreds of emails a year ago to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules.

"All of my emails are stored and preserved". "There were no deletions".

But, like her father, Trump said it's time for the investigation to wrap up.

She then said that she's looking to Canada to "bring us back to our senses".

The Washington Post reported this month that she used the personal email account to conduct official government business.

"There is no restriction of using personal email", Ivanka Trump added.

In Mrs Clinton's case, she had set up a private email server at her home in NY that she used for all work and personal emails during her four years as secretary of state.

Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith wins Mississippi US Senate runoff amid racial controversies
Working with the state Democratic Party, the campaign sent millions of text messages reminding potential supporters to vote. She at first refused to apologize , and only at last week's debate did she offer a conditional apology "to anyone offended".

Clinton used a personal email account linked to a private server at her home in Chappaqua, a New York City suburb, during her time as the top US diplomat under President Barack Obama.

The president's daughter and White House adviser said 'There's no connection, ' between her situation and Clinton's in an interview with ABC News on Tuesday.

Congressional Democrats are crying foul, suggesting that they'll launch an investigation in 2019 after they take over control of the House of Representatives.

Mrs Clinton had deleted thousands of emails that were deemed personal or unrelated to her work before she turned over thousands of other emails to investigators.

That's what Vank insisted in an interview with GMA in an effort to dismiss the critics re-purposing Donald Trump's "lock her up!" mantra after she was caught sending hundreds of private emails to White House officials.

'My goal is to prevent this from happening again - not to turn this into a spectacle the way Republicans went after Hillary Clinton, ' he said.

"I know the facts as they relate to me and my family, and so I have nothing to be concerned about", she said. The night was filled with bashing President Donald Trump and Hillary claiming she's "thinking about standing for parliament here in Canada". "And one of the reasons that I have such a good relationship with him in both a personal and professional capacity is because I'm incredibly candid with him", she said.

It's not the first time Ivanka has found herself embroiled in controversy since taking on a role as a White House aide in her father's administration.
