Minnesota Timberwolves: Why each new player fits the Wolves perfectly
The Minnesota Timberwolves are ending the drama surrounding Jimmy Butler after agreeing to trade the disgruntled superstar to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to an ESPN report on Saturday. The max he can earn is five years, $190 million, and while other teams are hesitant about that length of a deal for Butler, the Sixers have cashed in key assets and are all in now.
The Timberwolves are sending Butler and Justin Patton to the 76ers. Harris and Taylor worked closely with the front offices, including Sixers general manager Elton Brand and Minnesota's Scott Layden and Thibodeau, on executing the trade.
News of Butler's imminent arrival in Philadelphia prompted Las Vegas bookmakers to slice the Sixers odds of challenging for the National Basketball Association championship.
This is an interesting deal that makes Philadelphia's starting unit a lot better with a big-3 of Butler, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid.
Tens of thousands flee fast-moving Northern California fire
She said a group of 20 other patients were initially evacuated but then returned to the facility because of gridlocked traffic. One Paradise resident who fled the encroaching blaze told the Bee: "It was so hot".
Butler played in 10 of those games, averaging 21.3 points.
In the end, Twitter wasted no time reminding everyone that the Sixers might have won the trade, but it's still the Golden State Warriors' world.
The Wizards most likely would have had to include small forward Otto Porter in any trade for Butler.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Minnesota will receive forwards Dario Saric and Robert Covington, guard Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick. On paper at least, Butler projects to be a solid on-court complement to both players, and if the three are able to gel, they could form one of the league's most potent trios.
