The first walkout happened in Singapore, and then swept around the globe all the way to Google's headquarters in California. An employee representative must be appointed to the Board, they said.

In March, employees protested the company's planned partnership with the Pentagon's Project Maven, and many took issue with its plan to build a censored version of Google to please the Chinese government.

Employees at Google's Boulder campus joined their colleagues at the company's campuses and offices across the world in walking out Thursday to protest the tech giant's mishandling of sexual misconduct allegations against executives.

The Google walkout is meant to protest the way Google handled its senior executives accused of sexual misconduct.

Twitter account Google Walkout For Real Change is documenting the various protests around the world and offering words of support.

According to a BBC report, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai told staff in an email that he supports their right to take the action and that he understands the anger and disappointment they feel.

The New York walkout lasted roughly 45 minutes.

Google released an email from Pichai to employees stating that none of the people who resigned or were fired due to sexual harassment concerns in the past two years received "an exit package".

Irish employees left a note on their desk. Hundreds of women and men filed out of Google's office in New York City and silently walked around the block for about 10 minutes around 11:00 a.m. ET.
