Trump to visit Pittsburgh after synagogue shooting

Pittsburgh Mayor: Take Guns From Those 'Looking To Express Hatred Through Murder'

The Trumps laid stones on markers honoring the victims, a Jewish tradition.

Cohen told CNN he was proud of his medical staffers, who he said, despite their "conflicting emotions", fulfilled their mission to "take care of sick people [and not] ask questions of who they are". The family said it objected to a statement Trump made about the shooting.

People pay their respects at a makeshift memorial outside the Tree of Life synagogue following Saturday's shooting at the synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. "Screw your optics, I'm going in".

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said he was also against Trump's visit because it would coincide with the first funerals. He is expected to meet with first responders and community leaders.

Eleven worshippers ages 54-97 were gunned down, including a husband and wife and two brothers. "He's some mother's son".

The incidents have led to accusations that Trump has fanned violence through nearly daily tweets and speeches lambasting illegal immigrants, political opponents and journalists in divisive language.

"President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you fully renounce white nationalism".

The president's skeptics wonder how he can "express his support for the American people and grieve with the Pittsburgh community", as the White House said he intends to do, while continuing to use divisive rhetoric toward those he considers political foes. Werber said the Nazis were nationalists.

"Bigots are coming out of the woodwork", he said.

The letter was signed by tens of thousands of people nationwide.

But critics have blasted the Republican president for his frequent anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim comments, and for blaming "both sides" when a counter-protester was killed at a white supremacist rally in Virginia in 2017.

Cleveland Browns Fire Head Coach Hue Jackson
Jackson is the six straight Cleveland coach to be fired following the team's second game against Pittsburgh. Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski and Mike Pettine all met the same demise.

The Anti-Defamation League, which has tracked hatred and violence against Jews since the 1970s, said the massacre was the worst attack against the Jewish community in US history.

Nearby, a large crowd of demonstrators protested Trump's visit.

Asked if Trump had done enough to condemn white nationalism, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the President "has denounced racism, hatred and bigotry in all forms on a number of occasions".

They also accused him of making some groups unsafe: "Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted".

She said Rabinowitz was at the service early Saturday to help. "The city's sole focus is on supporting the families".

"He is making no other appearances, whether with the president or anyone else", the spokesman said.

Rabbi Jeffrey Myers refuses to join the chorus of voices in Pittsburgh who insist President Trump is not welcome in their city as they mourn. "The first three people who took care of him were Jewish".

"I will not be meeting with the president. He is certainly welcome".

"He always does", she said. Not at this time.

In addition to the 11 mostly elderly worshipers who were killed, six people, including four police officers, were wounded before the suspect was shot by police and surrendered. "They were murdered because they were Jews".
