Woman seen in video abandoning toddler on doorstep of Texas home

It wasn't immediately clear why the boy was left at the other home.

As it turns out, he lives next door to the home where the child was abandoned.

Deputies were able to locate the father the next morning.

Surveillance video shows a woman arriving at the house in a white vehicle. She then rings the doorbell, knocks several times, and drives away, leaving the child at the home.

"She just leaves the kid, takes off running, and gets the heck out of there", Courtney Fischer, a reporter for KTRK, said.

The entire incident took 23 seconds, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stated on Facebook.

Sheriff's deputies later said that they had identified her, but refused to share the woman's name after confirming that she had indeed been a victim of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Officers reviewed the security footage and canvased the neighborhood, asking residents if they recognized the child.

It is too early in the investigation to know if the mom will face charges, Spencer said, but he emphasized that she turned her child over to someone who she believed was a responsible adult.

Brexit talks: Now is the time for a deal, May tells EU
Michael Gove admitted today the Brexit deal might not be done until December. "We want to secure a deal as quickly as possible". She said: "We realise that the technical agreement of last week was not accepted in London".

The video shows her approaching the door quickly and dumping the boy and his belongings down. "It was very alarming and it was very disturbing and my heart was hurting for that child", Spencer said.

A woman left a 2-year-old boy on a stranger's porch in Texas, in an incident that was captured on camera and covered widely by local media.

This all happened at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, October 17.

Police say the child's mother was in the hospital.

"Right now we are ecstatic that the child has been found and detectives are working with child protective services to reunite the child with the father and family".

The sheriff's office will continue to investigate.

The sheriff's office said it had identified the woman who left the child but that it had not spoken to her yet.

The woman could potentially be charged with child abandonment, which is a felony of the third degree in Texas.
