Khashoggi's fiancée says those responsible for disappearance must be held fully accountable

Members of Human Rights Association hold portraits of missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi during a demonstration in front of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul

Khashoggi went missing after visiting the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul back on October 2.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia had not yet cooperated with Turkey on the search for Khashoggi. "Egypt warns against the attempts to exploit the case politically against Saudi Arabia based on false accusations, the Egyptian republic asserts its support to the kingdom's efforts in dealing with the situation", read the statement.

"I believe the Trump administration will do something, the president has said that", Rubio told CNN's State of the Union.

He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with government regulations. "We think what is happening now is Saudi Arabia is trying to buy time".

The official said Riyadh would "respond to any action with a bigger one", pointing out that the oil superpower "plays an effective and vital role in the world economy".

It is feared the Washington Post columnist, who lived in the United States, was killed and dismembered when he visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

The US President said Friday he had not yet spoken with King Salman of Saudi Arabia - the father of bin Salman - in the wake of Khashoggi's reported killing, but that he planned to "pretty soon". Until the issue of Khashoggi is cleared up Branson said that any discussions over the Virgin Galactic and Virgin Orbit investment would be suspended.

As the crisis mounted, Saudi leader King Salman called Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday, thanking him for welcoming the kingdom's proposal to set up a "joint working group" to probe Khashoggi's disappearance, a Saudi statement said. The market clawed back some of the losses, trading down over 4 percent later on.

Ford Motor Co. confirms that Executive Chairman Bill Ford will not attend. The Japanese technology company's brand is getting slammed because of its links with Saudi Arabia. "The question here is specifically whether our relationship with Saudi Arabia needs to be completely revised, including arms sales if in fact they carried out something like what they are accused of at this moment".

According to Rubio, the USA rightly condemns corrupt leaders like Vladimir Putin in Russia, Bashar Assad in Syria and Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and should absolutely condemn the Saudi regime if the allegation is proven true - regardless of whether we are foes or allies.

Intelligence reports shared by Turkey with US intelligence agencies have said there are video and audio recordings of Khashoggi's murder which has led the Trump Administration to threaten sanctions against anyone found involved in this terrible scene.

"There's something really awful and disgusting about that, if that was the case, so we're going to have to see", Trump said. He added, "We heard about Khashoggi going missing the day before we were supposed to leave, two days before, but the next day was when we had to go and it just didn't feel like a smart move".

Saudi Arabia had earlier rejected all allegations levied on the nation due to Khashoggi's disappearance and also threatened to retaliate "with greater action" against any sanctions put on the nation.
