Samsung Galaxy A9 is the world's first quad-cam smartphone

Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Pro

According to a leak from Evan Blass and AllAboutSamsung, they are planning to release the Galaxy A9 Star Pro with four rear cameras.

There's an ultra wide eight-megapixel (MP) camera at the top. The primary camera is a 24MP RGB sensor, and it is coupled with a 10MP telephoto camera that is able to provide 2x lossless zoom function for taking images without losing quality.

'It will be interesting to see whether this left-field, but interesting, USP of a multi-lens phone helps Samsung make up for subdued sales from its flagship handset'. Under the hood is the unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. There's also 128GB of in-built storage and a sizeable 3,800mAh battery, which Samsung claims is more than enough to keep the handset running throughout the day. It will be especially interesting to compare the A9's camera against the A7 and the upcoming Galaxy S10.

On the subject of availability, Samsung says that the Galaxy A9 2018 will be available at all Samsung Galaxy Experience stores and authorised resellers in November, but fell short of providing a specific date, or even a launch price. This dual-SIM smartphone comes laden with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The Galaxy A9 will be sold for 599 euros. Using all four cameras, one can obtain professional shots with Scene Optimizer.

In their announcement the firm's president of mobile communications, DJ Koh, said: "As a global leader in smartphone innovation, we understand the demand for meaningful innovation in a fast-paced world driven by visual communication".
