PlayStation will FINALLY let you change your PSN name

PlayStation announce when you'll be able to change your PSN ID

Sony has announced that the long-rumoured ability to change your PlayStation Network name is officially in the works for PlayStation 4 users. The gist is that the first hit is free, and after that you'll have to pay the nominal fee of $9.99 that Microsoft also charges.

You'll soon be able to change your terribly PSN ID. The option to perform this change will be found in the Settings menu and via the Profile page of your PS4. Players have the option to revert to their original PSN ID if they run into compatibility issues or simply miss the person that they used to be.

Pompeo says Kim Jong Un ready to allow nuclear, missile site inspections
Korean Central News Agency ( KCNA ) reported that Kim had "warmly welcomed" Pompeo in Pyongyang and "spoke highly of him". Analysts say Washington may now consider new options as China, Russia and South Korea seek to relax sanctions.

The Sony blog post said the PSN name change feature will be compatible with games published after April 1 2018. They'll give you the option to revert back to your old ID (once), but even then PlayStation can only commit to "most" issues caused by the ID change being resolved. That small cost is meant to discourage scammers and griefers from constantly changing their account name for the purposes of harassment. PlayStation is making it clear not all PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games are guaranteed to support the feature, so users might see issues or errors in certain games. Shuman notes that the "you will be able to change your online ID as many times as you want", provided that you perform those changes "during the preview program" window (which is scheduled to conclude by the end of this November), before it reaches everyone else. We'll get a list of officially compatible games at some point in the future.

After months of build up, and a rather large leak last week, Sony have confirmed that PlayStation Network ID changes are on the way, letting you hand in your embarrassing online name badge in favour of something a bit more sensible. It's priced on par with Xbox, but there are a lot of potential risks to consider.
