Trump hedges on Kavanaugh as 3rd accuser comes forward

Third accuser deepens Sen. Collins' quandary over Kavanaugh on eve of critical hearing

He says that both "they and their families have received vile threats" which are "unacceptable and a poor reflection on the state of civility in our democracy". "When I did, Brett put his hand over my mouth to stop me from yelling", she said.

That is the year when Ms Ford says she believes the assault occurred.

One take away that stands out is Dr. Ford speaking on remembering being laughed at by Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge during the attack.

During her testimony, Ford explained she was too afraid and ashamed to tell anyone the details of what happened for a very long time.

A handful of moderate Republican senators who have not announced whether or not they support Kavanaugh could determine his fate. I am here this morning to answer these allegations and to tell the truth.

Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied the allegations and says he never sexually assaulted anyone. When he was the author of the Starr Report, my daughter (from Boulder, Colorado) occasionally socialized with Brett Kavanaugh, ' it reads. This is just completely made up, or at least not me. I drank one beer that evening. "This was an extremely hard thing for me to do, but I felt I couldn't NOT do it", she said.

"I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their "turn" with a girl inside the room", she said in the statement.

And Julie Swetnick, through her attorney Michael Avenatti, has accused Kavanaugh of engaging in acts of sexual misconduct during high school parties.

New Accuser Says Kavanaugh Was Present at Sexual Attacks in High School
The AP has not been able to corroborate Swetnick's accusations, and continues to investigate. Responding to Ramirez, Kavanaugh said the "alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen".

Republicans, therefore, are anxious to get to the climactic vote, while Democrats insist there should be a time-out to investigate the women's allegations. That was an apparent reference to Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge. I have been accused of acting out of partisan political motives. "Senate Republican leaders are aiming to hold a full Senate floor vote on the nomination by early next week, with the hopes that he would be confirmed and sworn in as a justice soon after the high court's new term opens on Monday".

In advance of Thursday's hearing, Trump emphatically defended Kavanaugh but signaled there was potential yet for to change his mind about his own nominee.

On his message for young men, Mr Trump said: "It's a very risky period in our country, and it's being perpetrated by some very evil people".

The hearing kicks off at 10 AM ET and Ford is first up.

The Democratic side of the committee has diversified since 1991.

Republicans have cast doubt on Ford's account and dismissed the allegations against Kavanaugh as part of a "smear campaign" orchestrated by Democrats to obstruct his nomination. Unnamed sources told NBC News that Kavanaugh denied the new allegation in a phone call with committee investigators Tuesday.

Tasha Menaker of the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual Violence said Wednesday that she has worked with Rachel Mitchell for three years to develop sexual assault reporting guidelines for medical and legal specialists in Arizona's most populous county.
