Panthers sign safety Eric Reid to 1-year deal
Eric Reid, one of the first players to take a knee during the national anthem alongside Colin Kaepernick, now has a job in the league he's currently suing.
Hurney added that while he was on a trip during Reid's signing, "the sense I get is that he's very excited to play football".
It may have been a no-brainer from a football perspective, but the Panthers front office still deserves credit for taking on a certain mount of risk by signing Reid.
As explained by Sports Illustrated sports-law expert Michael McCann earlier this year, the Panthers signing Reid does not necessarily mean that he's ending his grievance against the league, though he's within his rights to do so.
Reid is a proven NFL player who has started all but one game over a five-year career with the team that selected him in the first-round (No. 18 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Reid began talks with the Panthers organization on Tuesday of this week when the team elected to send starting safety Da'Norris Searcy onto the injured reserved list.
Tension as Russian Federation provides missile system to Syria
But it exposed a glaring flaw in Syrian and Russian military cooperation, which Moscow is due to close with the S-300. Peskov said the new measures were decided on to boost the security of its troops in Syria.
"He's a physical safety with good ball skills and he makes plays and he has experience", Hurney said. Now that he's on a roster for the first time since last season, could the door suddenly be ajar for the activist quarterback as well?
"I was definitely surprised, for sure", said Stills, who has kneeled during the anthem since the start of the 2016 season. "And he's one of the best men that I know". I'm ready to go.' So he wants to play, he's good enough to play, he deserves to play.
Special teams standout Colin Jones and rookie Rashaan Gaulden split snaps in Searcy's former spot during Sunday's 31-21 victory over the Bengals.
"I'm not saying I'm going to stop being active because I won't", Reid said, according to The Washington Post. I just came off the field and as I was coming off the field, I found out he was signed. I say during because it's insane that the narrative changed to we were protesting the anthem and that wasn't the case.
In Carolina, Reid joins a defense that has uncharacteristically struggled this season; the unit, regularly among the league's best, now ranks 23rd overall, via Football Outsiders' metrics, and is 20th in pass defense. I don't think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem.
