Kim Jong-un wants second summit with Trump says South Korea's Moon

Moon Progress with NK depends on the US

"We, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, think that it will be able to accelerate denuclearization and bring peace on the Korean Peninsula through the U.N. General Assembly next week", said ministry Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon, who added that the development may lead to a second summit between the United States and North Korea.

Kim Jong-un: "We adopted a military pact to end a history of brutal and tragic confrontation and hostility, and agreed to make efforts to turn the Korean Peninsula into a land of peace without nuclear weapons and nuclear threats."
"They don't meaningfully constrain North Korea's nuclear programme".

Mr. Trump noted other gains, including North Korea releasing American prisoners, returning remains of US soldiers from the Korean War and stopping its nuclear and missile tests.

According to reports, the Trump administration has insisted that North Korea take a unilateral, complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation, known as CVID. "I'm calm. So we'll see what happens", he said. Although he has made a meaningful gesture of goodwill in returning USA troops' remains from the Korean War, the evidence that Kim has begun the denuclearization process in earnest is messy at best. They agreed as well to restart a joint factory park in a border city of Kaesong and tours to the North's Mount Kumgang resort, when conditions are met. But even if Kim won't publicly commit to that plan, that is no cause to abandon diplomatic headway on the grounds that he must be "playing us".

Moon urged unity for all Koreans in a speech he gave Wednesday night to the crowd gathered for North Korea's signature mass games. Pyongyang has long sought their withdrawal and Trump has questioned their rationale and cost.

Members of Trump's administration are concerned that such a declaration could be used to undermine the justification for the presence of US forces in South Korea.

"Everything that's out there now is conditional on U.S. actions that would reduce the pressure on the North to cooperate or (is) filled with loopholes and exit ramps", added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

And Kim Yong Un priomised to close down the Yongbyon nuclear facility but only if the USA first makes a reciprocal move which he failed to specifiy.

Many also believe the North has other covert nuclear facilities.

She was found not far from where the previous body was discovered and she later died at a hospital from fatal head trauma. The victims in the Ortiz case were killed or left for dead in rural parts of Webb County, which borders the Rio Grande.

Moon also said he would convey to Trump his and Kim's desire to get a declaration ending the Korean War by the end of this year.

Washington will be reluctant to grant hasty concessions given North Korea's poor record during a quarter-century of on-off nuclear negotiations in following through on its promises.

'That's what we're talking about right now, ' the official said, adding that 'talking to foreign leaders is better than not talking with foreign leaders, and the president has been firm with everybody on this'.

Earlier Thursday, Kim and Moon took to the road for the final day of their summit, hiking to the peak of Mount Paektu, which is considered sacred in the North, their hands clasped and raised in a pose of triumph.

Speaking ahead of Mr Pompeo's announcement, Mr Trump welcomed Mr Kim's pledges, calling them part of "tremendous progress" with Pyongyang on a number of fronts, and hailing "very good news" from the summit between the Koreas.

But while containing several tantalizing offers, their joint statement appeared to fall short of the major steps many in Washington have been looking for - such as a commitment by Kim to provide a list of North Korea's nuclear facilities, a solid step-by-step timeline for closing them down, or an agreement to allow worldwide inspectors to assess progress or discover violations.

South Korean Defence Minister Song Young-moo and North Korea's Minister of the People's Armed Forces No Kwang Chol signed an agreement that Seoul says is about reducing military tensions along the border.

His latest statement that the process "should be completed by January 2021" may be a signal Washington will not wait forever.

"Declaring a nuclear weapons list is at the core of the negotiations", said Woo Jung-yeop, a research fellow at the Sejong Institute in Seoul.
