Kavanaugh Would Testify Against Sexual Assault Allegation

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh testifies during the third day of his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee as White House Counsel Don Mc Gahn listens on Capitol Hill

"We want to go through a full process. and hear everybody out", Trump told reporters at an event on workforce development.

Trump told reporters that his nominee is still on track for confirmation, pending due process by the Senate. "It will, I'm sure, work out very well".

Grassley said the standard procedure would be to conduct follow-up telephone calls with Kavanaugh and Ford, and that he meant to work with the senior Democrat on the committee, Senator Dianne Feinstein, to schedule the calls but that Democrats have refused to cooperate.

On Monday, Ford offered through her lawyer to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and "do whatever it takes to get her story forth", according to CNN.

Trump's fellow Republicans control the Senate by only a narrow margin, meaning any defections could sink the nomination and deal a major setback to Trump, who has been engaged in a so-far successful effort since becoming president past year to move the Supreme Court and broader federal judiciary to the right. And he, too, said he is willing to speak to the Senate Judiciary Committee and answer any questions in whatever forum the committee deems appropriate. "Judge Kavanaugh and the White House both stand by that statement". Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said Wednesday. Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the committee, is not cooperating.

The president's eldest son also posted an image of an apparently fake note that looked like it was written by a child, joking that it was a letter making allegations about Kavanaugh. Susan Collins (Maine) said both Kavanaugh and Ford should testify before the committee.

Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) along with Republican Sen.

"If you believe the charges are true, then you vote no", said Flake, R-Arizona. Many women remember Anita Hill being savaged during her testimony against Clarence Thomas on Capitol Hill in 1991. "Ford by listening to her and hearing her story".

Kavanaugh visited the White House on Monday morning.

The Patriots Have Agreed To A Trade For Browns Receiver Josh Gordon
However, if Gordon lands in New England, he should be free to play as soon as he's healthy. The Patriots are finalizing a deal to trade for Gordon, according to a report.

The White House said Monday that the nominee's denial has not changed. And a Republican not on the committee, Bob Corker of Tennessee, said the vote should be postponed until the committee heard from Ford.

Conway later tweeted that Kavanaugh is "willing to add to his dozens of hours of sworn testimony". She said Sen. Lindsey Graham had told her it could happen as soon as Tuesday and the White House will "respect the process".

During a 10-minute phone call with Sen.

The sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh first surfaced late last week, with bare bones details and without Ford's name. In the letter, Ford requests Feinstein keep the matter confidential.

"We are not going to allow a last-minute smear campaign destroy a good and decent man who has an unblemished personal record", an adviser to the Judicial Crisis Network said in a statement.

Feinstein was faced with an impossibly hard decision in how heavily to investigate Ford's claims, since the more she did, the more likely Ford's privacy would be compromised and her confidence betrayed.

"Trying to rush this through on Thursday is an insult to the women of America and an insult to the majesty of the Supreme Court of the United States", Schumer said.

Democrats and some Republican senators have expressed concern over Christin Blasey Ford's private-turned-public accusation that a drunken Kavanaugh groped her and tried to take off her clothes at a party when both were teenagers at high schools in suburban Maryland. When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth. Ford told The Washington Post that she thought it happened in the summer of 1982, when she would have been 15 and the newspaper said Kavanaugh would have been 17.

Ford is "not taking a position" on whether Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination, Katz said.
