Police respond to active shooter in downtown Cincinnati

Cincinnati Shooting at Downtown Bank: Four Fatalities, Five Injured

When the elevator doors opened, Hanson said her co-worker nearly stepped on a man's body.

"This is abnormal. No other industrialized country has this level of active multiple shootings on a regular basis", Mayor John Cranley said about the shooting.

According to local sources, four victims have been transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

First responders tend to a victim of a shooting near Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati.

Two other victims were injured. The company in a statement said it's working with law enforcement and offers thoughts and prayers for "everyone caught up in this bad event".

The company didn't offer any details. An unarmed security officer helps someone up and races with that person around a corner, moments before the gunman walks into view, firing shots.

Fifth Third operates around 1,200 banking centers in 10 states.

Two officers "rushed to her aid and carried her out of the line of fire after she was shot", the statement reads.

Michael Richardson, who works in the bank building, told The Cincinnati Enquirer he started running when he saw the gunman shooting.

"Three or four officers responded and engaged the shooter", police added on Twitter.

The shooter who killed three people in a Cincinnati office high-rise once acted disoriented after being fired four years ago in SC, and he filed a recent lawsuit that a judge in June said "borders on delusional".

We're thinking of Mac's loved ones at this tragic time. "I want to be able to have good days and bad days", he said. Sometimes, guilt can keep relationships together far longer than actually being in love can.

Police said a gunman entered the building through a loading dock and made his way to the lobby of the office building. Two died, one is in critical condition and one remains in serious condition, she said.

The carnage unfolded in Fountain Square, a popular venue populated by office buildings, restaurants and retail stores.

Police do not know what why the shooter chose to open fire in the lobby of the skyscraper that houses the banks headquarters.

The situation appeared to be under control shortly before 7 a.m.

Cotter said Newcomer had worked for Gilbane, which has headquarters in Rhode Island and has two offices in OH, for four years, overseeing trade workers.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Yudy Martinez Perez slumped against a kitchen wall and muttered denials after she heard the news. He had been working as financial consultant in the Fifth Third bank for the last three- years. The news and stories that matter, delivered weekday mornings.

The police department in a Tweet described it as an "active shooter/officer involved shooting incident".

In the family statement, Whitney Austin said she is still processing events and the impact of the shooting to all the victims and the community.

An officer at the scene says there are at least two, and possibly more, people who've been shot. The shooter also died at the scene. "I will be eating lunch on Fountain Square tomorrow, mindful of the true character of Cincinnati".

Federal and state agents were on the scene as police searched the building. He had gone to several businesses before going to the bank, he said. Furthermore, police say that Fountain Square and the surrounding area is now closed.
