Japan hails Osaka's US Open victory

Final Countdown- US Open 2018

In the wake of Osaka's first Grand Slam triumph, there were messages of support for Williams as well as those condemning her behaviour and agreeing with the umpire's calls.

When the violation was announced Williams approached Ramos to insist she never takes coaching and would rather lose than "cheat to win". I just want to tell you guys, she played well.

In her post-match news conference Williams said she did not understand why Mouratoglou would say he was coaching. Never in my life have I had a coaching violation. Right here I'm preventing for ladies's rights and equality of men and women in all spheres.

While Azarenka did not condone her actions later in the match - though she believes male players get away with much more - she thinks that the initial coaching violation was wrongly applied, and she expects to see plenty of coaching during the men's final between Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro on Sunday night. The multiple grand slam victor Victoria Azarenka said: "If it was a men's match, this wouldn't happen like this".

"When I was practising with my dad, if my sister wasn't there, I don't think I would have made it", she said. "When a man does the same, he's 'outspoken" and there are no repercussions".

Ramos is known more for officiating men's tennis but has controlled French Open, Wimbledon and US Open women's finals. "More voices are needed to do the same", King tweeted.

Ramos also called Nick Kyrgios for a code violation for yelling at a towel boy.

It was filled with outbursts from Williams - who became incenthat found both she and Osaka in tears.

The American star was fined for coaching, racquet abuse and for verbal abuse when she accused umpire Carlos Ramos of being "a thief" during Saturday's stormy final.

Trump says he did not discuss assassinating Syria's Assad
The White House on Tuesday threatened military intervention if the Syrian government used chemical weapons. If it's a slaughter, the world is going to get very, very angry. "Let's f-king kill him! Let's go in.

Meanwhile there has been further debate over Williams' charge that she had been a victim of sexism from the chair.

Williams won $1.85 million as a US Open finalist. And this is her first Grand Slam...

"I just feel like the fact that I have to go through this is just an example for the next person that has emotions, and that want to express themselves, and want to be a strong woman".

'The third one I was sitting and praying serena would stop and I'm not justifying what she said. Williams urged fans not to boo Osaka and protectively put her arm around her young opponent. And yet the likes of a John McEnroe-notorious for loudly swearing and insulting chair umpires-have never faced the kind of penalties that Ramos dished out to Williams on Saturday.

She was penalised a second point for throwing her racket down in her anger and then a game after verbally abusing the umpire, calling him a "liar" and a "thief". She was then forced to forfeit an entire game.

'This grey area we have.Coaching on the WTA Tour, I found out in qualifying you can coach - what the hell is this?

Even as she tried to remain gracious in defeat, it was clear that Williams was still bothered by the incident.

"I just texted Patrick, like, 'what is he talking about?' Because we don't have signals", she said.
