Dallas Cowboys: Earl Thomas trade still on the table

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. on the sideline of their final preseason game against the Oakland Raiders

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said last week that the team had not had any trade talks with the Seahawks recently, but they reportedly did pick up the phone at some point after Jones made those comments.

This public dance between Thomas, the Cowboys and Seattle began on Christmas Eve, when Thomas walked into the Dallas locker room after the Seahawks' win at AT&T Stadium to tell head coach Jason Garrett to come and get him. His career highlights include six Pro Bowl selections, three AP first-team All-Pro honors and a win over the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.Though Seattle's defense is not as intimidating as it once was, having Thomas available to play makes them more formidable.

Thomas is planning report to the Seattle Seahawks facility.

Gulf Coast prepares for Gordon's expected arrival as hurricane
Bernard parishes, primarily along the Industrial Canal and susceptible to high-tide conditions if not closed, the city said. Florence's maximum sustained winds are 70 miles per hour , and the storm is moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour .

The Seattle Seahawks finally have good news on a key defensive player ahead of the regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos.

Thomas held out of all Seahawks activities this offseason and preseason, missing the team's mandatory camps and accumulating fines for his absence. The Cowboys' current starting safeties are Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath, so Thomas would clearly be a major upgrade for that secondary.

Thomas has since reported to the Seahawks, but he still doesn't appear to be thrilled with his situation. Thomas' reaction to the lack of a resolution was clear in his post: "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten". Those are all at team discretion, though, and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Seahawks "did agree to wipe away nearly all of his fines". Seattle wasn't interested; it wants more. Obviously, the All-Pro safety wasn't happy, but he'll be back on the field for Seattle in Week 1.
