Trump Claims Google Is "Suppressing" Conservatives With Biased Searches

Donald Trump: Google’s news service is rigged against me

"This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!" tweeted Trump. "It's not fair to large portions of the population", Trump added, noting that his administration has "literally thousands and thousands of complaints coming in" about the tech companies' practices.

Trump's accusations, in which he once again takes aim at a huge tech company (breathe easy for a day, Amazon), were serious enough that he promised an investigation into the "RIGGED" results for searches of "Trump News", which returned mostly stories from the "Fake News Media".

Trump gave only once specific example, saying "Fake CNN is prominent".

He did not name the source of this figure - but The Verge website reports it appears to have come from analysis by Paula Bolyard at the conservative news site PJ Media.

He tweeted: "96% of results on "Trump News" are from National Left-Wing Media, very unsafe".

Previously President Trump has called the press "the enemy of the people", "very unsafe and sick" and "fake news".

"Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don't bias our results toward any political ideology", the company said in a statement. "They are controlling what we can & cannot see", he wrote. Other factors such as personal browsing history and how certain keywords appear on the page also affect how pages are ranked.

Experts suggested that Trump's comments showed a misunderstanding of how search engines work.

First, is part of a trolling network that spews out fabricated, inflammatory political content under the guise of proffering "satire".

DNA reveals first-known child of Neanderthal and Denisovan, study says
We nearly caught them during the act, joked the scientist Svante, one of the authors of the study , in an interview with Nature . It is also possible that hybrids suffered from reproductive disorders, having fewer children than humans without mixed DNA.

"However, it has a tendency to rank web pages higher that a lot of people link to".

Aside from Google, other companies with global influence such as Facebook and Twitter have likewise been subjects of criticism over reports that they have censored conservative voices.

Media analyst Ken Doctor said it doesn't make sense for mass-market businesses like Google to lean either way politically. "It's not the people who are delivering it or the platforms on which they receive it".

"The temperature has risen on this", Doctor said.

Limbaugh said there isn't "this vibrant so-called attractive, wonderful smorgasbord of ideas where people get to exchange and debate and expand their minds".

Trump's tweets will only serve to fuel the conspiracy and turn more of his base against the (again, professional) mainstream media in favour of unaccountable sites like Twitchy.

Google categorically rejected President Donald J. Trump's claim that the search engine giant is using its position to manipulate search results in a politically biased manner.

"It's deeply concerning that any government official would try to bring public pressure on a platform over news and information that is important to our democracy", O'Connor said.
