Microsoft takes another whack at killing off Windows Phone 8.x

Microsoft might launch its Sticky Notes app on Android and iPhone

Naturally, those versions of Windows won't be supported for much longer, and today, the company announced the dates that the Windows 8.x and Windows Phone 8.x Stores will be shut down. Overall, however, it was the overall dearth of apps in Microsoft's then-nascent app store that caused both Windows 8 and especially Windows Phone 8 to rot.

Crucially, while updates will no longer be distributed to older devices after the above dates, developers for these apps can still publish updates.

Want some examples? Limiting new processor support to Windows 10, making Microsoft Edge Windows 10 exclusive only to release it later on for Android and iOS as well, or pulling support agents from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 support forums.

Jose Mourinho laments Manchester United 'mistakes'
This was a great win for Brighton , but it raises a lot of questions for Manchester United's title aspirations. Guardiola, however, insists that "buying class" is not something City were attempting to do in the project.

It's no wonder that this permission for the arrival of updates to the mobile version of Windows 8 is terminated at this point since the operating system itself has been unsupported for more than a year. Apparently, Microsoft will launch a major 3.0 update for Sticky Note on Windows 10 very soon, which will include a dark mode, improved performance and accessibility, as well as a new formatting bar.

The cut-off for apps targeting Windows 8 and 8.1 devices is a little further off. Microsoft plans to stop distributing updates to these devices on July 21, 2023.

There are various factors that lead to Windows 8 hate.

Windows 8.x users won't be able to get new apps for their devices starting four and a half year before extended support runs out. Once again, Windows 8.x apps will continue to be updated on Windows 10.
