UN Yemen envoy to invite warring parties to Geneva on Sept

Air strikes on hospital and market in Yemen's Hodeidah kill dozens

Saudi-led coalition airstrikes in Hodeidah, Yemen, killed at least 20 people and wounded at least 60 on Thursday, according to a doctor at the city's al-Thawra hospital.

According to a doctor at Al Thawra Hospital many injured have been transferred to other hospitals and "there is a large number of deaths, and we can not count now because the number is large, above the capacity of the hospital".

The pro-Houthi Al-Masira television said at the time that the rebels had targeted a Saudi warship named Al-Dammam, without providing further details.

However, the allied forces of the Yemeni army and popular committees established by Ansarullah revolutionaries have been heroically confronting the aggression with all means, inflicting huge losses upon Saudi-led forces.

The Houthis are fighting a Saudi-led military coalition that backs Yemen's government.

It has been recently seeking to retake rebel-held areas along the country's western coast, including Hodeida, the main entry point for food in a country teetering on the brink of starvation.

The Center also called for "full compliance with the provisions of global humanitarian law", saying Houthis were in violation of this following the attack which killed dozens of civilians.

Later on Thursday, Griffiths announced plans to invite Yemen's warring parties to Geneva on September 6 to hold the first round of consultations.

The Houthis, a militant political movement based on the Zaidi branch of Shia Islam, today controls the city and most of the country's densely populated north, including the capital of Sanaa.

John Ging Director of the Coordination and Response Division of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), also addressed the Security Council on the dire situation in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and its allies joined Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi's fight against the Huthis in 2015. "Everything we are trying to do to stem the world's worst cholera epidemic is at risk".

Yemen s war has killed almost 10,000 people and triggered what the United Nations calls the world s largest single humanitarian crisis, with more than eight million Yemenis at risk of starvation.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday warned that Yemen was likely to be struck by another "major wave" of cholera cases after the airstrikes on Hudaydah struck water facilities and medical infrastructure.
