Indonesia quake kills 82, hundreds injured
The natural disaster, initially reported to be of 7.0-magnitude before the U.S. Geological Service downgraded it to a 6.9, struck the island of Lombok-a popular spot with tourists-where last week's quake also hit.
Tweeting from Australia, Diane Burns said her son, daughter-in-law and grandson fled up a mountain to wait out tsunami warnings after their home "collapsed" and their auto was damaged.
The deadly quake was 31 kilometers (19 miles) deep.
"Due to proximity the natural disaster was felt on Bali, which sustained some minor damage to the Denpasar airport terminal, however this hasn't affected the airport at all, with flights operating as normal".
It comes a week after another tremor killed 16 people and injured dozens more on Lombok. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake at magnitude 7.0.
The latest quake, which triggered a brief tsunami warning, damaged buildings as far away as Denpasar on Bali, including a department store and the airport terminal, where ceiling panels were shaken loose, authorities said. "Delegation thankfully safe though there i was told that there were casualties amongst other guests". "People filled the streets", said Michelle Lindsay, an Australian tourist. "A lot of officials were urging people not to panic".
Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism released a statement saying no tourists had been "injured or impacted" by the quake.

Bali“s worldwide airport suffered damage to its terminal but the runway was unaffected and operations had returned to normal, disaster agency officials said.
Frightened people poured out of their homes to move to higher ground, particularly in North Lombok and Mataram, the capital of West Nusa Tenggara province, said Iwan Asmara, a Lombok disaster official. Numerous dead were from northern and western parts of Lombok.
Landline phone and cellphone services were reported down in Tanjung, the Lombok town nearest to the epicenter.
Eventually, they went to the airport, where they waited at the airport police post.
Like Bali, Lombok is known for pristine beaches and mountains.
Indonesia is one of the most disaster-prone nations on earth as it straddles the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates collide and numerous world's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. The area stretches from Japan and Indonesia on one side of the Pacific Ocean all the way across to California on the other.
